AMS

SAE AMS*** standards, identified by the prefix “AMS” standing for “Aerospace Material Specifications,” are specialized technical standards developed by SAE International to regulate the materials used in the aerospace industry. Given the extreme operating conditions (e.g., high temperatures, pressure variations, and corrosive environments) that aerospace components endure, these standards establish exacting requirements for the composition, properties, processing, and performance of aerospace materials—including metals and alloys (e.g., titanium, aluminum, and nickel-based superalloys), polymers, composites, ceramics, lubricants, and coatings.
